Viewing orders in OptionWise
Alongside where options appear in Shopify, OptionWise has its own Orders screen. It lists the orders that used your option sets and resolves each line item back to the exact options the customer chose — including which option set produced them.
Opening the Orders screen
In OptionWise, open Orders from the navigation at the top of the app. (The Orders tab appears once you’ve finished the setup flow.)
The orders list
The list shows orders where OptionWise was involved — that is, at least one line item carries options from one of your sets. Orders that didn’t use any option set are left out.
Each row shows:
- Order — the order name (e.g.
#1001); click it to open the detail. - Placed — how long ago the order was created.
- Items w/ options — how many line items used options, out of the total (e.g. 2 of 3).
- Total — the order total.
- Option sets — the option sets that contributed to the order.
- Status — the order’s payment and fulfillment status.
How far back it goes
The list opens on the last 30 days by default. If there are older matching orders, a Load older button at the bottom pages further back.
Shopify only grants apps access to orders from a recent window. Very old orders may not appear in this screen even though the option data is still saved on the order itself in your Shopify admin — open the order in Shopify to see it.
An order’s detail
Click an order to open its detail page. At the top you’ll find the order name and status, the time it was placed, and the order total, plus a View in Shopify admin button that opens the same order in your Shopify admin for fulfillment.
Below that, each line item is listed with its product, variant, quantity, and
price. For items that used OptionWise, the chosen options are grouped by the
option set that produced them and shown as an Option / Value table — so
Engraving → Happy Birthday reads exactly as the customer entered it. A
Manage option set link next to each group jumps to that set in the editor.
- Uploaded files appear as links in the value column — click through to download the customer’s file upload.
- Priced options add a separate Add-ons line to the order (the add-on charge). The human-readable choices stay as properties on the main product line — see How pricing appears in cart.
- Any properties that don’t map to a current option set are listed under Other properties so nothing is hidden.
Past orders always read correctly
Editing or even deleting an option set never rewrites orders that already happened. Each order is shown exactly as the customer placed it — someone who ordered “Matte finish, Engraving: Sam” keeps exactly those words on their order, even after you later rename the option or remove the value. Your finished orders stay accurate no matter how your option sets change over time.
