Uninstall OptionWise
There are two levels to removing OptionWise, depending on what you want:
- Remove the plugin from your theme to stop options showing on your storefront while keeping the app (and your option sets) for later.
- Uninstall the app to remove OptionWise from your store entirely.
Remove the OptionWise plugin
This hides options on the storefront without uninstalling — useful while you rework your setup, or to switch options off on a theme. Your option sets stay saved in the app.
Open the theme editor
In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes, and click Customize on your published theme.
Go to a product template
Use the template selector at the top of the editor to switch to a product page (Products → Default product).
Remove the plugin
In the product section, select the OptionWise app block, then click the trash icon (Remove block).
Save
Click Save. Options disappear from your product pages immediately.
Removing the plugin doesn’t delete your option sets — they stay in OptionWise. Add the plugin back any time to bring them back. To switch off individual options instead of all of them, unpublish or delete those option sets in the app and leave the plugin in place.
Uninstall the app
This removes OptionWise from your store completely.
Open your apps list
In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Apps and sales channels.
Uninstall OptionWise
Find OptionWise in the list and click Uninstall (or the trash icon / ⋯ menu), then confirm.
What happens to your data
- Past orders are unaffected. Option choices are stored as standard Shopify line-item properties on each order, so they stay on existing orders and remain visible to your fulfillment apps.
- The plugin stops rendering. If the plugin is still in your theme, it no longer loads anything once the app is gone, so product pages simply show no options. You can leave it or remove it from the theme editor (above) to tidy up.
- Price add-ons leave a product behind. If you set up add-on pricing, OptionWise created a hidden product named Add-ons (or whatever you renamed it to) to carry the extra charges. Uninstalling does not delete it — remove it manually from Products if you don’t want it. The add-on pricing itself stops applying as soon as the app is removed.
If you only want to stop charging add-ons — not remove OptionWise — you don’t need to uninstall. Clear the add-on amounts on your options (or unpublish the option sets that carry them) and nothing extra is charged.
